" Myself and everyone on the team were so glad to have Mel on board as the shibari artist on our music video. From our initial conversations all the way through to the shoot she was super helpful and informative, incredibly creative and a pleasure to have on the shoot itself. The finished result on the day was also stunning. Very much hope to work with her again! "

Josh Kwan, Artist
" Mel tied me up for my music video "Ritual". I wanted to convey the message of breaking free from perceptions, rewriting the way people see me, and reclaiming my power. Mel was quick to respond and jumped onto the project because she really believed in the artistic vision. She was so helpful in helping me understand exactly how shibari could work for the video, as I have no experience in rope art, tying, or shibari. She walked me through every step with great sensitivity, making sure all parts of my queer and Asian identity were considered in the designing of the tying. We cycled through my suggested ideas and Mel helped build on these ideas to decide our final look. Since I have chronic pain, Mel made it an extra point to make sure I was always comfortable. At the shoot, Mel arrived on time and had all her equipment ready to go. She instantly got to work and was able to pull off quite a complicated set up in the set amount of time. Throughout the tying process, she made sure that I was comfortable and we worked together to try different things. I also really got along with Mel, which always helps the process. The entire process took a few hours, and throughout, Mel checked in on me to make sure I was doing okay and made the necessary adjustments for my physical comfort. The final product was much cooler than I had imagined! I learnt so much about rope, Shibari, and tying culture. Mel was happy to answer every question I threw at her. I would really recommend Mel to anyone who is looking for a Shibari artist and rigger! The professionalism, her skill level, and the ease was such a joy to work with. I hope to work with her again soon."
